Call Ahead: Introduction

The PEC Call Ahead^TM System is an application that provides utility companies with a device capable of calling their customers in order to inform them that a service truck is on the way to the service site, prior to the time of the visit. The utility service can use the detected status of the Call Ahead^TM System to determine whether to dispatch a service a truck or not.

The Call Ahead^TM System interfaces with the Utility Field Service Management System. (UMS) through an RS-232 Serial Communication Port. The call request made at the UMS is transferred to the PEC Call Ahead^TM Terminal via the RS-232 port. The Call Ahead^TM System processes the request, makes the call according to the time and format requested, plays the message, and returns the detected status back to the UMS via the RS-232 port.
