AudioSaver

Overview
Audiotext is a major industry in many
parts of the world. In the US alone, it is nearly a multi-billion dollar
industry and growing at a rapid rate. Briefly stated, Audiotext is the marriage
of computer, telephone, cellular phone, and media. Also know as Voice Response,
Audiotext allows a caller to interact using a plain or cellular telephone and
thereby receive information, entertainment, reservations, chance to win a prize,
etc. Audiotext has been referred to as the fourth medium, the first three being
print, radio, and television.
While an outgrowth of the telecommunications industry, Audiotext has more to do
with media, publishing and entertainment than is generally recognized by
established players in these industries at first. Within six months after the
market opens up in a given country, it is common to find most major groups in
media, publishing and entertainment to start participating directly or
indirectly in the Audiotext business. Many companies in publishing, media and
entertainment choose not to get directly involved in the technical operations of
Audiotext because it is so alien to them, and prefer to let an expert in that
field handle the operations on their behalf.
There are two stages through which Audiotext is offered in a given country. The
first is through an international phone call to an Audiotext center in another
country. In this instance, the service provider receives a commission from the
international telephone tariff by having a special contract with the appropriate
telephone carrier. However this was very prevalent in the early 90’s.
The second stage is to offer Audiotext via a domestic phone call using a special
tariff created by the domestic landline telephone or mobile carrier in the given
country. However the proliferation of mobile phones and the prepaid nature of
the business has given rise to an explosion in the business.
Once connected, the AudioSaver system will allow for digital T1 or E1 lines to be directly
connected to specific mailboxes, or for the caller to choose a mailbox with
their touchtone keypad. Different mailboxes may be used to run different
applications.
PEC has an extensive library of applications, and new applications can be
designed to suit your needs. Applications are generated using the IVR
applications generator
(a simplified way to control the flow of a call to the AudioSaver system).
The IVR applications generator tables are simple to understand and easy to modify.
